Each year, Bhola hosts this fundraiser event to raise funds for charity causes. This year the event hopes to assist a family in need of finances for medical attention for a 3 year old girl with Cerebral Palsy. What can you expect to see this year? Well, aside from the event having an 'Avant Garde' style theme, patrons can also win many door prizes, as well as prizes for a wide range of competitions, among them being Most Unusual Outfit, Most Unusual Hairstyle, Most Interesting Footwear & Nails.
Tickets cost only $150 and Bhola is assuring patrons that they will receive value for their money. She encourages women to come out dressed in line with this year's theme, Avante Garde, which according to her "translates to creatively crazy" in Trini parlance. Bhola said "Come laugh till yuh cry and we have prizes galore...who reach first...who brings de most friends...who buy dey ticket first...who enter every category...who enter no category!" This is a catered event so tickets must be booked in advance.
Maria Bhola won the National Calypso Queen competition in 2007 and she presently performs with the Divas Calypso Cabaret International tent. She was a crowd favorite at this year's Calypso Monarch semi-finals, with her calypso entitled "Let Her Go," which tackled the prison escape of Vicky Boodram in November 2017.
